Did you Know Chiropractic Care and Functional Medicine are a Good Combination Approach to ADD/ADHD?

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that since 2011, 6.4 million children between the ages of 4-17 years old have been labeled with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder)/ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).  It is estimated that 200,000 kids in the US under the age of 5 are taking ADHD drugs!  The common treatment protocol for children displaying signs and symptoms of ADD/ADHD is to prescribe behavior-altering drugs.

ADD/ADHD medications are dangerous.  Adverse ADD/ADHD drug reactions, due to the boosts in Dopamine and Serotonin in the brain, include: depression, abnormal behavior, anxiety, insomnia, aggression, nausea, eating disorders, headaches, etc.  Children are being prescribed pharmaceutical medications without diagnostic testing of blood, serotonin, and dopamine levels.

Consulting with a functional medicine practitioner can determine if you or your child is suffering from toxic overload, poor gut health, food/environmental allergies, or nutrient deficiencies.  Toxic overload, etc., and ADD/ADHD signs and symptoms are the same.  Problems with hyperactivity, attention impulse control, problems completing tasks, following directions, and multi-tasking all can cause consequences in school, work, and relationships.  ADD/ADHD cannot be proven, and its pharmaceutical treatment protocols are risky.

There is a correlation between ADD/ADHD symptoms and brain stem subluxations at the C1-C2 levels of the spine.  Subluxations in the C1-C2 cervical spine will trigger para-sympathetic and neurotransmitter imbalances.  Anything affecting postural muscles will influence brain development and activity, thus behavior.  Regular chiropractic adjustments in combination with regular exercise will help ameliorate these symptoms.

Dr. Duggan works with a functional medicine, conservative care approach, creating a teamwork partnership with you and his team.  At Duggan Chiropractic we offer more promising results for ADD/ADHD: adjustments, postural muscle re-education, diagnostic testing, nutrition, and lifestyle change support.

Duggan Chiropractic is patient centered.  Care is based on your personal and unique needs.  We are interested in outcomes rather than controlling symptoms, working through a functional medicine approach to keep families well adjusted.
